Krishna Kumar (handle Krish) received an advanced category license and callsign VU2VKU in 1989 as a first year engineering student. He operated from club station VU2CBE on and off until 1993 during his student years.

During the time between 1989 - 1993, he helped in volunteering his services to provide communications support during Auto rallies. He has also visited Schools and Colleges to demonstrate the fun with Ham radio to invoke interests among the younger generation.
Subsequent to pursing a Masters in Engineering, he moved to the United States. He worked the bands as W4/VU2VKU for several years and has also participated in the 10m Arrl SSB sweepstakes. He now holds an Amateur Extra category FCC callsign of W4VKU. He works for Cisco Systems and lives in North Carolina. He loves to work Dx and Expedition stations. In addition to his interests in Ham radio and short wave broadcast Listening Dxing, Krish is also a marine aquarist who loves travelling.
