Hi ! I’m Rohit and RO is my handle.

I’m a businessman, retailing consumer durables  and home appliances, through  a showroom in Mangalore.(Karnataka State,INDIA)

I was always interested in ham radio and got into the hobby via SCOUTING.

Got hooked on to the hobby  after seeing a demo at a JOTA station.

I  got my licence in 1996, and have been active since then. Also got Crystal controlled in the same year to a YL named Sukanya who is a ham (VU2RDJ).

I have been a part of two major IOTA expeditions as a member of the VU-IOTA group. One at St.Mary’s Island (AS-096) and another at SACRIFICE ROCK (AS-161) which we activated. AS-161 was a great experience in Dxing and adventure as this was a barren rock island in the middle of the sea.

I am an outdoors man, specifically interested to operate in the wilderness areas. I love to do hill topping expeditions and have operated hf or vhf from around 7 major mountains in my State.

An avid JOTA fan, I have organized JOTA for the Boy scouts & girl Guides of Mangalore for the last 10 years. I have  helped in propagating the hobby at schools,clubs & associations by giving talks & live demos.

I am also involved in the disaster mitigation group set up to help local government authorities in disaster communication.

Other than amateur radio I am into wildlife, nature photography, amateur astronomy ,trekking ,motor sports and biking.

I love to “LIVE LIFE KINGSIZE”.
