Lakshman Bijanki, "Lucky" was licenced in 1982 as VU2LUX while he was in school. Lucky upgraded to a Grade 1 call of VU2LBW in 1985 and then to Advanced Grade in 1987.

An ardent DXer, Lucky has been active on CW, SSB and RTTY. He was awarded his DXCC in 1988. Lucky has been contesting since 1985. He has operated as VU2L, AT0L and as VU40LBW. He was part of the record-breaking VU2JX multi-operator ANARTS RTTY contest team in 1988. Lucky was one of the first in India to be active on 1200 Baud packet radio in 1988. He is the IP address coordinator for AMPRNet in India.

At present, Lucky is active almost exclusively on RTTY.

Lucky is a founder member of the Repeater Society of Bangalore and a life member of the Amateur Radio Society of India.
